Academy: arena zoning and throughput

Design zones so parties rotate smoothly and staff stays in control.

Overview

Throughput = players per hour × average ticket. Poor zoning creates bottlenecks at briefing, staging and debrief — even with good equipment.

Step-by-step plan

  1. Briefing zone — 1 m² per player, AV for rules video.
  2. Staging / armory — parallel lanes for 6–8 kits each.
  3. Play field — min. 25–35 m² per active player for indoor; cover and sightlines matter.
  4. Debrief / party room — upsell cake, merch, second round.
  5. Mark one-way flow; separate walk-in from booked parties if possible.

Common mistakes

  • Single narrow corridor for both entry and exit during games.
  • Over-scenario complexity before staff can run basic team deathmatch.
  • No storage for 20+ vests within arm reach of marshals.
