LASERWAR announced two different upgrades in July: the PRO v.2 Smart Controller on July 2 and FOCUS optics on July 7. The first concerns instructor workflow; the second concerns specific taggers. This is a retrospective of July announcements published in October.
What changes when preparing a game?
According to the manufacturer, the PRO v.2 controller connects to a computer via USB Type-C and works as a USB base in the configurator. It has a color OLED screen and six buttons for team control. Clubs should test their own workflow rather than rely on advertised setup times: how many kits an instructor prepares per shift, which commands they use, and whether there is a backup way to start a game.
Which taggers can use FOCUS?
The manufacturer confirms full compatibility with the AK-25 Predator. Other models are described as potentially compatible if the housing and mounting allow it. Before ordering, ask for a list of exact tagger models and revisions, an installation estimate, warranty implications, and a trial kit. Compatibility with one model cannot be assumed for the whole fleet.
Operator checklist
- List the equipment models and generations in your club.
- Request written confirmation of controller, configurator, and optics compatibility for each model.
- Test on your actual site: shift preparation, launch, breaks, charging, and a return to the old process if something fails.
- Compare the upgrade cost with repair and replacement of existing devices in the same configuration.
The TRUTNEE comparison method can help you choose a club format. Technical properties above are based on manufacturer publications checked on October 2, 2026; we have not conducted independent tests.
